Seminar #1 – Timeline, NCAA guidelines, and Rules (Specific to Grade 9)
- Overview and understanding of the NCAA - DI, DII and DIII and the NAIA
- The recruiting process timeline - what the S-A should be doing and when as a Gr. 9
- Review the NCAA core course guidelines - be prepared for Grade 10 course selection
- Review the 16 required core courses
- The wrong courses can lead to being ineligible to participate in the NCAA
- When to begin researching potential schools to find the ‘right fit’
- How many schools should the S-A have on their list
- Marketing process – when and how to reach out to college coaches on their list of schools
- When to begin preparing an Athletic Portfolio and when to send it
- When should the S-A attend U.S. college camps/clinics
- Guidelines/rules coaches must adhere to while recruiting Grade 9’s
